With his latest album, Bad Bunny continues to prove he’s a global force, effortlessly making his mark on American pop culture. I won’t pretend to grasp all the themes woven throughout this album, but I felt like I gained something just by translating the titles of my favorite tracks. It opens with "NuevaYol" (New York)—presumably where he met someone—moves into "Voy a llevarte pa PR" (Let Me Take You to Puerto Rico), then to "Baile Inolvidable" (Unforgettable Dance), and closes with "DtMF" (Debí tomar más fotos / “I Should Have Taken More Photos”). After countless listens, my impression is that we’re seeing a more mature Bad Bunny—still capable of dropping irresistible beats, but now weaving in elements of romance and salsa with a more introspective touch.
Diving into a few standouts: "Baile Inolvidable" might be the best song I’ve ever heard. It instantly makes you want to sing and salsa in harmony with those horns. This track will no doubt play at my wedding. And "DtMF", that will rip at the after-party with unmistakably the most addictive hook on the album.
A few other sneaky bops include "Ketu Tecré" and "Turista", but honestly, I often just throw this album on and get lost in it. Lastly, I’ve got to shout out whoever created the animated frog visuals for each track—they’re brilliant.
